Soma vs. Mimasaka

This is an interesting volume just for the fact that Soma has to go up against someone whose cooking talent is taking someone’s dish and creating something just the tiniest bit better. Will Soma prevail?

I really wanted to give this volume that last star. To be honest, I can't really explain why I didn't. Perhaps it is because the ending was underwhelming compared to the exciting majority of this issue? Perhaps I am just picky and keep comparing Food Wars to the intensity of Attack on Titan?

This volume is really good though! The quarterfinals of the Fall Classic wraps up, and the results are not what I expected. I liked this curveball, and while some characters have that sort of "plot armor," I like that the series isn't feeding the fans everything they want.

The latest"villain" in this series is one that I CANNOT STAND, and honestly this speaks of how well these characters are created and fleshed out. It is because of this new villain that makes me want to give that final star. I can't recall the last time I hated, and pitied, an antagonist.

This series is just so much fun to read!
