Me imaginaba diferente la historia; sin embargo, las primeras palabras del libro me conmovieron el corazón y me encontré con la grata sorpresa de un libro muy sencillo de leer y muy descriptivo, lo cual te permite perfectamente imaginarte todo lo que te va contando. Quizás me hubiera gustado una mayor profundidad en algunas cosas, ya que de pronto me parecía que algunas cosas pasaban muy rápido y me hubiera gustado saber más; sin embargo es una historia que Yusra narra de una forma muy auténtica y sin buscar maquillar o esconder sus defectos. Después de esta historia, admiro muchísimo a las hermanas Mardini. Un libro que vale la pena leer, ya que uno de los temas principales, es el tema de los refugiados, situación actual que afecta a muchos países en el mundo. Los refugiados son personas que huyen de sus países por situaciones de guerra o de muchísimas carencias, y se les debe de tratar con respeto. Gracias Yusra y Sara por compartir su historia.

Disaster and political upheaval can happen to any country, not just poor ones. Anyone can become a refugee--it's not of their own choosing. This story was a great reminder of those truths. It was also a reminder that people can survive so much.

Butterfly is the memoir of a Syrian refugee who went on to be an Olympic swimmer. Yusra was a teenager living in Damascus, Syria when ware broken out in her nation. At first Yusra and her family attempted to carry on their normal lives of attending swimming practice and going out with friends. But, soon it became clear that they must try to leave Syria for someplace safer.
I enjoyed this book. It really brought a light to a refugee crisis through the eyes of a refugee. A must read for anyone in today's world.
