I ended up really enjoying this book and I'm so glad I read it! The story was super cute, the romance was very sweet and BD was iconic! I don't have very many issues with this book but I really wish there was an extra chapter or epilogue at the end; the last page resolved the storyline and it was really satisfying, but then I turned the page expecting a final chapter where I would get to experience the MC's happy, but I just didn't get that. I also wish Lanie and Ryan had broken up a little sooner, something just didn't feel right about her hiding the engagement photo from Noah and then breaking up with Ryan soon after meeting Noah (maybe a little opportunistic?). But overall I really enjoyed this!

“The whole book is who I want us to be.”
- Noah Ross

When Ross is introduced first at the book launch party I knew he was actually Noa Callaway (Noah) and that he was the infamous writer that millions incl our protagonist adores. They start off rocky but eventually fall into a shy friendship. They had some cute moments and my favorite has to be the little thoughtful things Noah remembered about her. The side characters are full of personality which is fun to see. Overall an average simple read to pass time. Nothing too great tbh but nothing especially bad either.

Light, quick read. Definitely more like a 3.5, but not quite a 4. There were a few cute things like Noah remembering certain details like the tulips, but not really enough for it to actually feel like Noah & Lanie had chemistry. I wish we had seen more of the “friendship” that they had had for the last 7 years and maybe that would’ve helped to see how this turned from a professional relationship into something more.

Also, no spice, just a hug

Lanie learned everything she knows about love from novels. Specifically, the novels written by famous (fictional) romance author Noa Calloway, which inspired her to list the qualities of her perfect mate and to switch career paths to become an editor. The novels' lessons have been a success: Lanie is engaged to the perfect man and has just gotten a promotion. In her new job, she is responsible for helping Noa Calloway finish her new book - and it turns out the famous author has one more lesson to impart.

By Any Other Name is an absolute delight. An entertaining and easy read, it is by turns funny and heartfelt, goofy and moving. There isn't much in the way of suspense - the big twists, such as they are, all come early on - but the book kept me reading. Lanie is an easy heroine to root for, smart and vulnerable, and the cast of supporting characters is quirky enough to entertain without distracting from the story. Perfect for curling up in front of a fire or whiling away a long plane ride. Read it now!

[I received a complimentary ARC of this novel from NetGalley and the publishers. My review is voluntary and opinions are my own.]

I won’t lie.. I originally judged this book based off the ratings - I was nervous it wasn’t gonna be my cup of tea but then I started it and it actually dragged me in?? it wasn’t a 5 star but it’s high up there I would say.

I’ve been in such a slump lately but this honestly was such a quick read for me, it was light and fluffy, no heavy spice. It was honestly exactly what I needed.
