useful information and resources but im not sure how much of it is still accurate. (there was a geocities url or two lol). definitely felt like a zine, though some pages were unreadable or overwhelming because of the style.

If you're looking for something to help you get started with zines or improve your zines, this is the book for you! It's illustrated and formatted in such a cool way, just like zines! The creators and contributors are all zine makers as well.

I like Esther Pearl Watson, but I'll stick to her comics.
This should be called Watcha Mean, What's a Mini-Comic?
The layout is so chaotic I felt like I was developing ADD just trying to read this book. Decent resource for young beginners (especially those interested in mini-comics), but I'm not a young beginner, so...

A seemingly (I don't make zines, so can't say for sure) comprehensive instruction manual on how to make zines. An introductory section on what zines are and why people make them, followed by a how-to section, and then ideas on how to distribute a finished product.
The major problem with it is the formatting. Like many zines, it is sometimes difficult to read because of the layout, typefaces, etc. But would probably be helpful for someone looking to create the first zine.

As far as I remember, there were some good pages of inspiration to get you started if you feel stuck or uninspired. However, it's not a read-back-to-front kind of book, at least in part because some of the "essays" (for lack of a better word) are off-topic and/or annoying. Like zines themselves, there's something for most tastes, but you're not going to like all---or even the majority---of the content.

This book is awesome. It has a huge resource section with lots of templates and "how-to" guides for different aspects of zine making. Also applicable for people interested in book making jusssssst in general.
