CONTAINS SPOILERS AFTER THE IMAGE

I'll be honest I wasn't going to read it at first because there were no TW in the beginning. Only a short message to say if you needed TW's you shouldn't be reading the book in the first place but something inside of me wanted to.
If you are here looking for TW I'll put them on here;

TW:Drug addiction,violence, BDSM, knife play, pain kink, on page Rape/SA, blackmail

I'm still quite new to Dark Romance but I saw someone speaking about this on TikTok and KNEW I just had to read it for myself!!! I'd only been told about the security camera scene and I had been hooked from the second I heard about it.

Tropes: Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, touch her you die vibes, bodyguard, jealously, mafia

not a fan of this at all. I didn't find it sexy or appealing in any way, it dealt with a lot of triggers and they were kind of glamourised.

4.5 stars: Dark, spicy bodyguard Romance, with two extremely flawed characters giving each other hell.

This book did not disappoint! I loved that both MCs knew they were behaving shitty. And I absolutley loved the push-and-pull between them. —> Their banter was perfect!

"Ember, meet Ren Falcon. Falcon, meet your worst nightmare."
"'Ember, hold the door!' Ren shouted.
You know what I didn't do? I didn't hold the fucking door."

Ember felt like such a real and flawed character. She was feisty, a total menace, and I LOVED it! I admired how strong she was and could relate to her feeling neglected.
Ren gave me “Touch her, and I’ll kill you vibes”, and I love that he was a moody asshole ✌

This is a good romantic suspense, with fantastic characters Ember, Marcus, Michael, and Ren, and we get all their POVs which made it even better. The story will hook you from the start, with lots of twisted and compelling scenes, you get the dark past of the characters, their mystery, and the violence you know you get from a dark romance. The audiobook narrated by Cat Baroco and Javi Wilder was well performed, they both did a good job portraying their characters.

I loved this story so much! The characters were amazing individually and together. I loved seeing them each being take no shit, rough around the edges characters, yet able to find vulnerability with each other. I only read a few chapters at a time because the thought of finishing the book and no longer having these characters made me sad. This is one of those books that just went you think the plot is wrapping up, the universe shifts and everything get thrown in disarray. I liked how this book eases you into the darkness and the progress into madness is slow. This is not something I usually comment on but the cover just perfectly fits the story and I love it!

Cat & Javi were perfectly cast as Ember & Ren. Javi embodied the dark, mysterious & delicious Ren and Cat could totally be a diamond princess ;)

In the beggining it was very interesting and just what I wanted but then it took a weird turn and it just became boring
