I gave this book two stars because the writing was good and I was able to finish it. However, it is not my kind of book. Far too much blood, guts, and gore with little plot or character development. I think some people must enjoy this type of read as it is a very famous book, I am just not one of them.

I found this book at turns enthralling and beautiful and a jumbled mess of word salads that didn’t quite add up to the lofty expectations of its genius writer. The Judge character was not as clever as McCarthy intended but more of a snake oil salesman indulging in his wit. Maybe at the time what this novel had to say was special but in the 40 years since its publication there have been better depictions in both print and film of characters like the Judge.

This book felt like it was just an excuse in gratuitous violence without any point. By the end I was hoping that everyone just died. The style of the writing is blunt, flat, and almost clinical in its tone. Wasn't impressed and not a fan.
