I didn't know how to feel initially because I felt there were too many similarities to Poppy and Casteel's story, but that feeling didn't last for too long. I absolutely ADORE Nyktos and hello - baby drakens?! How can you not love baby drakens?!

I found this to be quite better in a lot of ways than FBAA but also too similar in spots. There's a lot of predictable twists because they were there at least somewhat in FBAA. The other bothers from FBAA are also here with random modern phrases and Q&A style info dumps but it is such a relief that there isn't a lot of repetative dialogue happening. And the banter between Sera and Ash is *delicious* and the steamy scenes are way better written.

The first half is pretty slow but the second half is action packed the whole way through. There is still some lull for dialogue but the second half is defitwhere the book shines.

Overall, I really, really enjoyed this and thought I would be "meh" not having Poppy and Hawke but Sera and Ash? Maybe BETTER?!

This is possibly my favorite part of the is world that Jennifer L. Armentrout has created. I would highly suggest reading the first 4 books of Blood and ash, because the connection between the 2 are very important. There are some things that I don't think would make sense if I haven't read those first, but at the same time, so fates of the characters have been uncovered in those books as well. I was unable to sit this book down and sinished the last 500 pages in one sitting. I could not put the book down, it was heated and yet my eyes stung at some parts where I felt lost in the character feelings and actions. I just bought the second book and must start it immediately because I must know what happens. This by far has become my favorite book out of both series because it has been a while since I have been able to sit and read a book so intently.
