I found this to be quite better in a lot of ways than FBAA but also too similar in spots. There's a lot of predictable twists because they were there at least somewhat in FBAA. The other bothers from FBAA are also here with random modern phrases and Q&A style info dumps but it is such a relief that there isn't a lot of repetative dialogue happening. And the banter between Sera and Ash is *delicious* and the steamy scenes are way better written.

The first half is pretty slow but the second half is action packed the whole way through. There is still some lull for dialogue but the second half is defitwhere the book shines.

Overall, I really, really enjoyed this and thought I would be "meh" not having Poppy and Hawke but Sera and Ash? Maybe BETTER?!

I hated this book. I wish I had just looked up a summary. It’s literally a copy of Poppy and Casteel except with a different storyline. If it is crucial to read book 2 for the book after WOTQ (which btw is the ONLY reason I read this trash) then I am honestly going to just look up a summary explaining the just of it. Could have read other better books as opposed to this. Do yourself a favor and just look up spoilers.

Oh my Gods is this books so good😍🔥😍🔥 After reading through the FBAA books I was hesitant to want to pick this one up because I loved Poppy and them too much but WOW do I love Sera and Nyktos even more! I am literal trash for their relationship.
I devoured this book in a day and a half while caring for a 1 year old. It’s that good and I don’t know what to do while waiting for the second one.
After reading through the FBAA books too it is so cool to see the gods as real people and get a deeper understanding of the world and see the lore first hand. And Reaver and Jadis? I need to have little dragons now!

I found this story engaging and entertaining and was left wanting more - there's no doubt JLA is a great storyteller.

However, this story was very familiar. Almost verbatim of FBAA (yes, I know it's a prequel/part of the main series). There was a part where Sera sees a dead baby and is like ~if anything ever hurts any of my descendents I'll annihilate them~... It took away from the story imo.

Moreover, some of the writing itself wasn't the best and would take you out of the story as you're reading it...
