idk what people (booktok) are on about bashing the blood and ash & flesh and fire series’s. they’re blinded by acotar (which to be fair i have yet to read) these books im honestly obsessed with. i slurp them up like the best noodle soup money can buy. highly recommend reading the blood&ash series first. the only note i have is in the dialogue its a little too modern for my taste but thats just me being finicky.

As a “prequel” A Shadow in the Ember is great for people who want to know more about the lore of the From Blood and Ash series. I read it after reading TWOTQs and I don’t know that there is much difference compared to if i had read it before TWOTQs. I found that Sera’s character was thoroughly more enjoyable than Poppy but I also understand why Poppy is the way she is in From Blood and Ash.
