This Poppy/Cas 2.0 book really didn't need to be this long. The major stuff happens in the second half of the book with the major plot twists (saw coming a mile away) in the last 15% of the book. Mostly just angst. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Did I also feel dragged through unnecessary stuff? Yes. But the last 15% of your book and some hot smut scenes can only carry your book so far. Also, one of these stars is specifically for the baby dragons. If they weren't in the book... well y'all can math.

I found this story engaging and entertaining and was left wanting more - there's no doubt JLA is a great storyteller.

However, this story was very familiar. Almost verbatim of FBAA (yes, I know it's a prequel/part of the main series). There was a part where Sera sees a dead baby and is like ~if anything ever hurts any of my descendents I'll annihilate them~... It took away from the story imo.

Moreover, some of the writing itself wasn't the best and would take you out of the story as you're reading it...
