Bad Luck City by Matt Phillips is a noir tale about a somewhat down and out newspaper reporter seeking a missing woman.
Sim Palmer is approached by a dapper dressed, strange fellow and is persuaded to locate a missing young woman. The dapper dresser has only provided limited information to Palmer and as he digs deeper he runs afoul of a strange, local casino owner and others.
The novella is well written and while it starts out slow, it does pick up speed and should be enjoyed by those partial to stories of noir.
