Ik miste diepgang. Ja, veel problemen van nu kwamen aan bod, maar door de hoeveelheid kon ik niet met de personages identificeren. Het van begin tot eind heel intens wat het ook geen leuke leeservaring maakte. Daarnaast waren alle problemen weer heel snel opgelost door er gewoon over te praten...

En uh... een eetstoornis (among others) is dus niet zo makkelijk opgelost.

De nieuwe hoe overleef ik!

Jaren hebben we gewacht totdat Rosa weer de kop opstak in een nieuw boek van Francine Oomen.

Ik kocht dit boek voordat ik op vakantie ging en het hield me gezelschap tijdens mijn vliegreis. 
Ik heb gelachen en gehuild. 
Zeer herkenbare dingen voor de 20 en 30ers onder ons wisselen zich af met de persoonlijke moeilijkheden van de hoofdpersonages, waar je je wellicht gelukkig niet altijd helemaal in kunt verplaatsen. Het is eerlijk, rauw en mooi hoe de personages zich ontwikkelen en opnieuw hun weg (naar elkaar terug)vinden.

Toch bijzonder, in de brugklas las ik over Rosa's brugklas avonturen en nu 24 lees ik over volwassenen Rosa's avonturen. Het is een classic HOI boek, goed en vlot geschreven, veel survival tips en voor mij een flinke dosis nostalgie. 

Het is een goed boek als je met HOI bent opgegroeid. Het boek lijkt mij geen goede introductie voor de serie. Als je geen nostalgische gevoelens hebt voor de karakters is het wellicht wat moeilijk inkomen. Het taalgebruik is nog hetzelfde als de oudere boeken die geschreven zijn als jeugd literatuur, alleen de problemen van de karakters zijn nu dus heel volwassen. 

Als je nog onder de 18 bent, lees dan eerst de oudere boeken en kom dan later terug voor deze. 

Controleer ook de trigger warnings, het boek is best heftig.
