This is a fun book about the sounds of the city. Great use of onomatopoeia that are incorporated into the illustrations that are deceptively complex and detailed. Another great book from local author Robert Burleigh and I may have to look at more illustrations done by Carpenter. A good balance of text and illustrations.

I loved the great illustrations in this book. My son loves pointing to all of the vehicles, and he adores the book. I find the rhyme to be a bit clunky, so I get a bit frustrated when I read it. That doesn't mean we won't be reading it every night for the next six months, though! :)

Nice book for any kid that likes cars, trucks, and trains. Illustrations were a little garish, done mainly in red, blue, and yellow. Stylistic drawings reminiscent of the fifties or sixties. What really bugged me though was that with all the people in this book (and there are a lot) not a single one was a person of color. In this day and age, diversity should be a given in any children's book.
