Some books are harder than others to put into the proverbial nutshell; THE COURTSHIP OF NORA FAGAN is such a book. Some might see it as satire, others as humor, and still others as religious. It is all of these and more. Superficially, it is a horror tale with recognizable tropes… angels and archangels… demons and monsters… God and Lucifer. Beneath the dark patina lies the true conflict… the real-world battle of the sexes.

Michelle Renee Lane is an extraordinary writer. Her prose is poetic… often exotic… sometimes crass… but always spot on. The characters she has chosen for THE COURTSHIP OF NORA FAGAN are known entities - Azazel, Lucifer, and others from the various pantheons - that are brought from their various ivory towers and stone depths to the French Quarter to experience earthly delights or eternal damnation.

The characters and settings provide readers with real world view of polite society while cleverly presenting the underbelly that is misogyny and racism. The story of Eleanora Fagan will resonate with all women who have spent lifetimes seeking autonomy and freedom.

I, for one, am happy to see that this is book one of an impending series. Although there is no cliffhanger, I have a desire to know more about Nora Fagan.
