Read for an elective class, “Teaching Narrative and Expository Literacy”

I liked it more than I expected. It’s for a younger audience, but still had some really good lines that hit.  This book covers a lot of sensitive material, but approached it nicely and left me thinking. Listened to the audiobook narrated by the author!

Jade reminded me so much of myself when I was young: isolated, unsure, but still so passionate. I loved following on her journey and really saw her grow into a more self-assured person. This book filled me with so much pride, I hope all young black girls get a chance to interact with this novel.
