4.5**** Wow, what an emotional roller coaster! I thoroughly enjoyed this finale. It truly had an epic feel to it, and I will so miss reading about all of these characters!

This series started out SO strong. I was completely hooked. The first few books had forward momentum, they were exciting, the mysteries culminated in something frightening and fantastic. And the series really seems to have petered out over the course of the last books. This book was entirely too long for the little that occurred in it. The plot twist was foreseeable from the beginning. It just felt like the book dragged on because the author didn't want to say goodbye to the characters (which is understandable, they were great characters). But she didn't give them enough to do or discover to justify dragging it on that long. The ending was also a bit of a let down. The way that they actually defeat the big bad at the end? They weren't even together. All it took was one of them, basically guessing a riddle, and the whole thing was over. The world was safe. It was just very anticlimactic.

The writing is lovely, though. The characters are great. I love how inclusive the story is, and I LOVE that she included an asexual character. And asexual character, a girl in love with another girl, and the two of them creating a new kind of relationship together. That part made me extremely happy.

It was a fun series, a fun ride, and I'm glad I saw it to the end.

So sad this series is over!

I feel like this was my least favorite book in the series. The ending was a little disappointing (action wise). The way they defeated the King of Crows seemed too weak for all of the build up. The middle did drag too. I didn't get that feeling with the first three.

Still love all of the characters and the growth they go through throughout the series. It was a very enjoyable series and I highhlllllyyy recommend!!

I’m so sad I’ve finally finished this series. I started it two years ago and was delaying finishing it because I didn’t want it to be over. I absolutely loved these characters and this story!

I'm not even sure where to start. This series as a whole drew me in from book 1 and kept be engaged until the very end of book 4. Even the authors note in this one was moving and heart felt. The book was action packed and the group of friends was unique, mesmerizing, and so much fun. I guess the word most fitting to describe this series is "spellbound". I love the mix of historical elements (you can tell how much research the author did) , magic and unique characters. This story really resonated with me and I will be thinking about it for a long time.
