“We have to ask questions to hear the silent people.”

Welp. Brigid Kemmerer is able to make me feel ALL OF THE THINGS. All the time. This book kind of ripped my heart out. But in a good way? I mean, it was completely brutal and yet I wouldn't have it any other way.

I really love Rev and I am so glad that he got his own story. Seeing more development from his character was absolutely fantastic!

After reading Letters to the Lost, I was very eager to read more about Rev and this book didn’t disappoint in delivering more of Rev. My heart hurt for him, it was constantly heavy whilst I was reading because I just wanted him to be happy. And he was hurting, so I was hurting.

I still adored him just as much as I did in the first book. Same as Declan when he featured in this one. I still really loved their friendship, their brotherhood. Their unconditional love and understanding for one another. It’s beautiful. It’s probably my favourite part of these books, Declan and Rev as individuals but also as a pair of friends. I liked that we got to see him navigate some new relationship with someone other than Declan. Matthew was a new addition to the household and at first I wasn’t sure what he was going to bring, but by the end of the book I liked him. I think he and Rev will be great brothers.

And once again, I wasn’t a huge fan of the main female character and is the reason why this book isn’t getting 5 stars. Emma is a gamer girl and I guess has decided she needs to be tough to survive in a male dominated sphere. Which is wrong but understandable - it isn’t easy being a woman and trying to fight stereotypes and gender norms. But there was no reason for her to be so selfish and cruel to those around her. She constantly put her best friend and her interests down, just because it was makeup. She had a somewhat strained relationship with her parents, mainly her mom, but once they announced a divorce, she was hostile and rude to them both. Only thinking of herself. She said some hurtful things to Rev for no good reason whatsoever, and had some weird fascination with a guy she met online gaming. The only thing I like about her was that for the most part, she was gentle with Rev. She was patient, listened to him and knew when to push and when to back off. I also liked her dog.

3.5 stars. This was a more heavy book, with more heavy adult situations. Still good, just heavier
