I just want to say that I tried. I love the cover but the writing is BAD tbh. There’s no exposition and I don’t want to be left wondering what’s going on.

Also, another person compared the love interest to Snape and that was probably that the thing most off putting for me.

I was most likely never going to get these books but Oh my god I’m so glad I did! It felt like a mix of Red Queen and The Last Airbender.

it was okay, love triangle wasn't necessary. kinda gave me ember in the ashes vibes?? without the whole mask thing and stuff
idk how i feel about it but I don't think i really want to read the sequel lol

Someone once described this book as something that just scratches a fantasy itch, and I have to say that's right.
** SPOILERS WARNING**
First of all, Vhalla. I am never a fan of self-described 'smart' characters that just aren't very smart. For a lover of books, she didn't seem to have read many books. Also, as soon as she found out how the windwalkers were all killed, why didn't she run for the hills? Why did it take someone else telling her for her to realise she should be scared?? Also Aldrik was right in calling her a parrot.
Aldrik. You know what, I actually kind of like him; and he literally pushed Vhalla off a fucking tower. Do i like them together? No. Nor the 'bond'. But I honestly just think he's kind of a funny, goofy boy.
I feel like so little happened and I know so little about the world, and the war.
The book wasn't consistent in its use of contractions when characters are talking. Characters not using them throws me off on a good day, but I can move past it; if it's consistent, which it wasn't. Also I think this book suffers from a classic case of 'underestimate what the reader can read between the lines' syndrome. Please, I am not as stupid as the MC, I understand what isn't being said. Finally, there was a bit where she was trynna detangle her hair, and she started from the top!!!??? And was trynna work her way down???!!!! Girl. No wonder your hair is a mess if you're doing it like that.
But the book was easy to read, so I will keep going just because I'm curious.
