Good story, well told. Loved the details, felt like I was in Atlantic City in 1934. (Could not believe that incubators with real live premie-babies was a tourist attraction but it was!)

Enjoyable summer read. Engaging story. Not a deep book. I would have liked one more chapter just to know what happened with a couple characters.

Libby audio. This was good and the premise was fascinating. Even more fascinating is that the story is based on a real event I. The author’s life. Florence was real and they really hid her death from her sister.

While this based-in-family-history novel has some charms, and there are moments of beautiful writing, it is just too formulaic and coincidence-filled to warm my cold, cranky heart!

A well written glimpse into families and choices they are forced to make and the fallout from them. A little slow at times but overall a satisfying book.

I really enjoyed this novel that switches the perspective every chapter to a different family member (mostly) but I also wanted to read about the moment when Fanny finally discovers the truth about her sister!

I did appreciate that this was based on the author's extended family--that was fascinating to read about!

But what the hell did Fannie say to her parents when they finally told her that her sister was dead and they were paying off her husband to move to Florida?!?!
