Classic book, got it free on kindle, but lots of great advice still pertinent for today. A good reminder about being an example to your kids on how you want them to handle their emotions, and emphasis on "connect before you correct."

This was a parenting book that actually improved my parenting, how I relate to my child, and how she relates to me and to requests/training/discipline. There were several moments I felt the author was playing on fear and could have used more factual research, but the core principles as simple as they may seem (eye contact, positive physical touch, focused attention, filling the emotional tank before discipline) really benefit the parent child relationship when paid attention to intentionally.

To summarize this book for parents (or teachers): love your child through eye contact, focused attention, and appropriate touch. If something is going wrong, make sure that your child’s emotional rank is full.
