I’m conflicted about this book because for the first 350 or so pages nothing really happened and I wasn’t drawn into the story or cared about what would happen, and then all of a sudden an awful lot happened quickly and i found I did care? It’s the sort of book you have to stick to and keep reading even if you find it slow.

I don't know why it took me so long to read this book for how much I liked it. Maybe I just didn't want it to end...

This book was great! I’ve had it on my shelf since 2015 but was kind of intimidated by it. I’m so glad I finally read it. I found it to be very readable and the story kept my interest and only drug in a few places, which were mostly when the author went back in time. I can’t say that I understand all of the mythology, but I will probably want to read this again at some point. It won’t be for everybody but I loved it!

Neil Gaiman is a talented, brilliant man. American Gods was an odd, twisty-turny, winding trail of a novel. I enjoyed every bit of its convolutions and was deeply charmed by the world Gaiman created, as well as our main characters. I very well could have missed a few things, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book.
