This is a lovely book. I enjoyed seeing the combination of silliness and earnestness in the granddaughter's attempt at tai chi and the grandfather's attempts at yoga. The book oozes warm fuzzies as they teach each other in a playful way.

A very cute and adorable book! I love that it had information at the very end to talk more about tai chi and about yoga as well. Wonderfully illustrated!

What a sweet story! It's an intergenerational story about a young girl and her grandfather who teach each other tai chi and yoga. Mei Mei is too active for the quiet and graceful moves of tai chi, and Gong Gong is too creaky for yoga. Sylvia Liu evokes the natural world with every pose and move. Young children will be up and bending like cranes, dogs, and trees.

The helpful back pages explain the history and postures of these two ancient forms of exercise.

Gong Gong and Mei Mei practice the exercise forms that the other likes best.

I loved this book about mutual teaching and learning. Mei Mei and her grandfather Gong Gong exchange yoga and tai chi poses, respectively. Neither is very good at the other's chosen exercise, but fun and love and solid efforts abound on both of their parts. A joyful book that approaches learning a new form of exercise and mindfulness with openness, respect, and flair.

The book celebrates relationships with grandparents and the joy of being physically active together.  Sylvia expertly uses similes and metaphors in a child friendly way, introducing emergent readers to the richness of language.  A truly beautiful picture book to share with a child.

A wonderful book! Both the pictures and story are just lovely. The book is about a little girl and her Grandfather spending a Sat morning together. The grandfather, Gong Gong, is outside doing Tai Chi, and the little girl, Mei Mei, wants to join. The illustrations flow with the story as they move through the poses, with Mei Mei not quite grasping the idea of Tai Chi movements. Then the story flips with Mei Mei trying to teach Gong Gong yoga moves, which he finds difficult to follow. Eventually they find a form that fits them both. A great story to use to introduce multicultural families to children, or to introduce yoga or Tai Chi to kids. The 6 year old loves this book!

A wonderful introduction to both tai chi and yoga with excellent illustrations of both. The story of a grandfather and granddaughter teaching each other was sweetly done, too.
