Amy’s snarky personality really shines through in the narration and makes the story quite fun. You also really start to see Amy develop as a hero in this book. It do also like to Paige has turned Oz into her own world.
Pete coming out as gay was interesting. I’m still trying to figure out why Amy kissed him as she’d preciously shown no romantic interest in him.
While the book was good, there was something major missing: a definable problem that the characters were working towards. Yes she’s supposedly got to get the lion’s tail and the scarecrow’s brain, but she literally doesn’t actively work towards that at all. It’s mostly, the order is scattered, maybe go look for them and help. While what happened certainly moved the series’ plot along, for the book itself, it was more or less just bumbling along letting things happen.
At the end the twist with Kansas and Oz existing in the same place on different planes was interesting and I’m excited to see where the next book leads.
Moderate: Death
