Wow, what a great second novel. It floundered a bit but then found itself again- and then the end. Can't wait to start part three!

What's amazing is that Riggs is great at humanizing the side characters and NPCs on the story. This elevates it way beyond your standard adventure. I love how he subverts lots of tropes yet also embraces others. Wow. Yes, I'm really blown away here.

Hollow City is the second installment of Ransom Riggs fantasy tale revolving around a group of peculiar children. Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children. I’ve never read a series, or reviewed the next installments beyond the first novel. I see this as a challenge. In my reviews, don’t worry about spoilers. I run a spoiler free zone...

THIS IS WHERE I GET OFF. Apparently I'm pretty limited when it comes to my open-mindedness with fantasy storylines. Fantasy is "a genre that uses magic and other supernatural forms as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or setting." Thanks J.K. Rowling for raising my expectations. I liked the first Peculiar Children book, but I couldn't get into the second one as much. I'm sure it's a great series. It's me, not you Ransom.
