LOVE the illustrations. I think the poem is more suited to parents than kids in many ways, but still a nice family read.

beautiful book; advanced vocabulary so it's a "read-to-me" book, and I think the younger kids may get lost in the words and the message would fall flat.

This is a super delightful picture book. It’s got a great representation in multiple ways, and it’s just so sweet and positive and loving. One of my favorite picture books of the year, so far.

Magnificent Homespun Brown is a vibrant and dynamic picture book, full of exuberant, colorful art depicting Black joy.  The book's text is a poem celebrating the many beautiful ways that Black children can look, live, and celebrate.  There is delightful diverse Black representation illustrated throughout the book, from disability to religion to skin tones, with a diverse crew of Black adults supporting the children's joy. This is a book best originally read by, or at least with an adult, as some of the language is a bit aspirational for children reading picture books. Magnificent Homespun Brown is a joy to read and an important celebration of the beauty of Black and brown skin.

I really enjoyed this book! From the lovely, warm illustrations to the poetry of the words. Look & be taken in by the whimsy & comfort of each image & each word!
This is a celebration of the self, what joy this young person finds in their own skin! Read & celebrate!

It was so beautiful! The language is rich. It was above my 3 yo’s head but I loved it.

A beautiful celebration of black girls with amazing illustrations. I love the alliteration helping my voice and lips dance as I read aloud.
