the astrology girlies are going to love this.

The year is 1936, Japan and the eccentric artist Heikichi Umezawa has been found murdered in a locked room. His last will and testament? Astrology, alchemy and a complicated plan to kill his daughters and nieces. The police think nothing of it but then the women are found dead and scattered across rural Japan. All according to Heikichi’s plan. Thus begins the country’s obsession with the “Tokyo Zodiac Murders. 43 years later and a tag team consisting of a mystery-obsessed illustrator and a talented astrologer set off as amateur detectives to solve the case.

First off, the beginning of this book is absolutely fascinating. I have never been so disgusted yet intrigued. Bravo! But, this was also needlessly complicated. My brain zoned out when they started getting into the astrological and geographical details.

I still managed to solve it though.

Batshit bonkers clever fun. Proper locked room mystery stuff but with some mental astrology shit thrown in. Certainly very enjoyable, though very little character development or anything outside of the mystery itself. 3.5 stars.

По сути моя оценка 3.5
С одной стороны разгадка, о которой можно догадаться до конца книжки (а можно не догадаться). И описание преступления.
С другой стороны, подача расследования довольно топорная. И астрология.
