This novella was a delightful and humorous experience, unfolding through emails, interviews, and text messages. A quick and enjoyable read, the drama of the Fairplay Players so reminded me of the drama and pettiness dealing with some individuals in my HOA. The tit-for-tat emails exchanged between Sarah-Jane and Celia had me both rolling my eyes and laughing out loud. Their relationship appeared to stem from the necessity of getting along while harboring an extreme mutual dislike for each other. And let's not overlook the unexpected twist of a dead body making an appearance during the play.

Overall, it was a funny and enjoyable journey, leaving me eager to explore more of Ms. Hallett's full-length novels.

I was so excited to be back in this world and back with these characters.  You definitely can not read this without having read The Appeal.  The only reason I am giving this a four was because I had a slightly harder time jumping into this one and keeping the characters straight for a little bit but then I definitely caught on.

Really hope this means that if there is a #1.5 that there will then most definitely be a #2 coming!

I adore Janice Hallett and everything she writes. Another perfect cozy English murder mystery.

I enjoyed this short epistolary book more than the original.

This is a fine book. A s’medium book if you will. It’s fun and a very short read. The only outright flaw is that it takes nearly 70 pages before it gets the mystery moving along. I will however say, that the concept of reading the case through emails and text messages is a curious and very interesting one.
