Honestly not sure what whim came over me to cause me to grab this from the library, especially since it's the first Hawkeye comic I've ever read and I haven't read Old Man Logan, but it was pretty entertaining on the whole. An aging Hawkeye, one of the last survivors after the villains finally won and killed off most of the superheroes, decides it's about time he gets his revenge for his friends being slaughtered. Why now? Because he's going blind and getting old so clearly now is the best time as opposed to the previous thirty years. Weird, but whatever.
It's interesting to see him pretty much give up on being a good guy. He kills a lot of people, most of whom are pretty inconsequential to his desired revenge, and he's shown to not be the greatest guy when he's not killing people, either. He has a kid with Kate Bishop, and they both hate him. Every bar he walks into, they hate him. The villains? They especially hate him. The dude is not doing good.
This volume is structurally very much a weekly run, and very much not the end of a weekly run. It takes a few issues for anything notable to happen, then once everything's set up there something big in every issue. Nothing's resolved - see the next volume for that - but on the whole I'd say this was a pretty good read. It's a new perspective on a hero underappreciated by the villains, the people around him, and probably most readers, too, and that's always appreciated.

I wasn’t expecting this to be so graphic! It’s also incredibly sad. I’ve never known Hawkeye to be so lonely and angry. He’s usually smiling and saying something inappropriate.
