I loved this book!!! Not as heavy as most holocaust books but still based on a true story and so well written.

I think this book was very well done for a YA book based on a true story that occurred during such a terrible time in history. It did a good job of portraying all the emotions that were felt during that time-fear, confusion, hate, love, determination, sadness, .... I picked this book up after reading a glowing recommendation for it in a online monthly book review. I'm not a huge fan of most YA books, so I'm glad I picked this book up!

Wow. An amazing and brave story told in a beautiful way ❤️ I didn't realise it was based on a true story until the end listening to the authors note.

Very reminiscent of a Ruta Sepetys historical fiction, based on true events and reads like the real thing. This one is indeed based on real people, you could cut the tension with a knife at every turn, and it was almost exhausting to read until the very end. The author’s note is a must read to get the full picture.

Read this rather than listening to the audio version. I could only get it on CD and you can't speed that up. The narrator did a great job with the accents but read very, very slowly. This was a shocking true story and is a must-read for young folks for sure.

I’ve read quite a few WW2 historical fiction books. This true story of an incredibly heroic woman and her sister is one of my favorites.
