“Whispers of You” by Catherine Cowles was another amazing read. This is book one from her new Lost and Found series.

This was an emotional roller coaster of a read. It was romance with some suspense and a lot of action at the end. It follows Holt and Wren. They were childhood friends and started dating in high school. Something tragic happens and Holt runs to join the military and then joins the private sector, but he has always loved Wren. Wren has never thought about leaving Cedar Ridge despite the trauma she has been through in this town. When Holt’s dad “gets sick” he comes home to be with family. As fate would have it he runs into Wren and must protect her when more trouble wrecks havoc on their little town.

This story was both beautiful and heartbreaking. As always, Catherine’s writing style pulls you in front the first page and hooks you until the last word.

The next book will be about Holt’s brother, Nash. I cannot wait to read it!

I’ve kept pretty close to romcoms and historical romance for a while now with a sprinkling of fantasy but have also begun to add in some romantic suspense to my choices. I really enjoyed this second chance romance. I love relationships that have so much history with the characters having known each other through so many life seasons. I also love stories with big families that stick together and get through the hard stuff as a unit. The spice in this wasn’t as strong as I expected though I didn’t love how it went down - a little too fast even with it being a second chance. However, the mystery was well crafted and I truly didn’t see the villain coming.

Content Notes: Multiple brief open door scenes, some strong language

Beautiful. I love Holt and absolutely adore Wren. They had so much to work through for their second chance and they did it maturely. The unexpected twists and turns make the story so much deeper. I felt every emotion right with them. *Be aware of your triggers!
