I really wanted to love this book but I don’t. I was expecting it to be more intense, mind-bending, and full of twists. It was so slow & boring. I don’t hate it, I just don’t particularly like it and I probably wouldn’t recommend it. As a young, new mother who struggles with postpartum depression & anxiety, I can relate to a good bit of things from this book. For that, I appreciate it but honestly, that’s all.

Incredibly powerful near-future story about motherhood, love, desperation, surveillance, and who gets to decide what good parenting means. I sobbed at the end, and felt like I had been living along side Frida. I loved this book.

Sad story, it was a struggle to read.  It's confronting and gloomy storyline was hard to finish.

For me, this book felt both too emotionally heavy to read in long stretches and incredibly difficult to put down. The plot is at times shocking, consistently heartbreaking, and a truly fascinating scrutiny of how society treats mothers.
