Cute and entertaining enough on audio. A bit too “rom com” for me and I found Laura a bit annoying, but I did love the setting.

The audio is wonderful. It really brings out the zany nature of the main character. I loved imagining what I'd feel if I was a side character meeting this gal. It was fun and unhinged and I ate it up

One sentence in this review has the tiniest spoiler but nothing else, I've writting a warning before it comes.
I needed this book. I've been wanting to read This time next year but haven't got around to do it yet. So while browsing on amazon I found this one and just fell in love (both with the description but also the fact it was only around £4,5). I've just finished read two other books the same week and even if I enjoyed them they were not what I needed nor wanted at the moment. (this single sentence has a tiny spoiler) I wanted a love story that I got to enjoy and also where the confessions came a bit before the end so I could enjoy them for a bit longer, and this was just that.

I loved Sophies writing, it made my heart swell and ache at the right moments and without being too much. I know now that I need to read This time next year and there is no doubt within me.

I highly recommen this book for those of you who just need a classic cozy romantic book that you can snuggle up on the beach, the sofa or where ever you want to be and just be. It's a book you finish in one go and won't ever regret reading. A book you will want to go back to in those late summer days and dream about the smells of the ocean and the wind in your hair. This book made me fall in love with Jersey and it's people without ever been there ( or even knowing it's excistent) and feeling like it's a second home, a dream island. When I tell you I now dream of going there I truly mean it.

This book was just the right amount of cozy and tugging at the heart, and I'll recommend it to anyone who asks for a feel good, perfect romance book that also makes you reflect and think.

I now have a new quote to live by, thanks to Gerry, "Don't hope or fear, but seize today you musr! And tomorrow put complete distrust" (it's not Gerrys qoute its some roman guy called Horace but it is now Gerrys qoute in my mind).

2⭐️ Laura travels back to New Jersey to walk the love journey of her dead parents, and meets Ted, her cabbie for the tour.
This was pretty slow going for me. There wasn’t any real excitement so I was bored almost the whole way through. No spice, which could have been fine, but there wasn’t anything to look forward to. No plot, no spice, flat characters, dull story… I was very close to making this a DNF, but pushed through to hear how Ted made a come around.

Worth the read?: NO
Reread?: NO

A fun rom-com meet-cute about fate, grand gestures, and finding yourself. I like that it was set in the Channel Islands (like The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society). Makes me want to travel there someday!

one of the most flushed out romances i have read in a while. i really appreciated how the characters grew throughout the story, even when they found out things that could have caused them to completely shut down. also seemed relatively realistic which i appreciate.
