This memoir was fast paced, eye-opening and definitely kept my attention (I read this book in 3 sittings). It is written by a young, successful attorney in NYC who has a bright future ahead, until alcoholism and drug addiction take over her life. It sounds like a potentially cliche story but it didn't feel that way when reading it.

I appreciated how the author wove in some humor/comedic relief, yet was brutally honest in discussing her feelings and the situations she encountered. It was especially interesting to hear about her early life and how her coping mechanisms may have contributed to her future drug/alcohol addictions.

Overall an interesting read, but contains lengthy descriptions of alcohol and drug binges and/or cravings that could be triggering for one not firmly established in their own recovery efforts.

I found this to be a bit triggering to be honest. Maybe it's just how I'm feeling in my sobriety right now, but glamorous descriptions of glasses of things outside of a meeting? I can do without that. This was my first and probably my last dip into 'quit lit'.

A compelling memoir about an extremely successful woman who struggled with an addiction for over 10 years.

A basic account of getting sober and why the author drank & used cocaine- nothing jaw dropping or too terrible, just the mundane. Still, other than some cringy phrasing at times, a good read.
