It's a pretty short read. It essentially juxtaposes three different older male artists who have all in one way or another whored themselves out for money, and the young female artist who ultimately must choose if she (metaphorically) will as well.

The book was fine. The main plot point revolves around a forgery created by a street artist to be sold as the lost work of a fairly highly regarded contemporary artist. I really spent most of my time thinking about how common this kind of thing must be in the art world. In the book, the dramatic tension is created because the person who commissioned the forgery is roughly as good at evil plots as your average Bond villain. In reality, it seems like you would have to be incredibly knowledgeable about art to spot a skilled forgery, and one would assume that in a community as small as high end art sales, most of the key players would be on each others' side as a rule - not the side of the rich douches they sell paintings to.

No idea if that is true, just something I was thinking while reading this book.
