Enjoyable read. A bit too difficult language for me at my level of english understanding. So sometimes I was a bit lost on what was happening.

This book is strong, but there are points I take issue with. The fight scenes, for example, are completely lacking in any kind of tension. The characters are interesting though, and when they're not fighting they're fun. I think there could be more world building too, but that might slow down the pace too much.

I listened to this on audio which I highly recommend! Catherine Ho and Cindy Kay are incredible.

Both of the heroines in this book are so intense and amazing (won’t swear but they are hardcore fierce). But I have to say that the Eris chapters were everything to me. Just listening to her inner dialogue and take no bs attitude made her chapters so fun to read.

I also loved how the fierceness covered deep vulnerability for both Eris and Sona, and how over time they were able to get closer and see each other’s soft spots.

The found family of Gearbreakers is also one of my favourite things about this book. The banter, the complicated dynamics between misfits. The loyalty and disagreements. How they keep fighting, keep pushing for what they feel is right.

And the fight scenes! It’s a dark world, and there is a lot of violence, but it feels justified.

And the cliffhanger nearly killed me. I’m already jumping into book 2.

Interesting concept, but the world building and backstory of these two warring factions (Godolia vs Gearbreakers) leaves much to be desired. Also, I love a sapphic MC and love story, but I don’t love an unearned transformation of enemies to lovers. While Eris is raised to hate and dehumanize wind-ups like Sona, affection seems to be earned by Sona overnight. While the reader knows where Sona’s loyalties lie, the other characters don’t truly know, yet seem to quickly take her in anyway. With what is made out to be deeply entrenched hatred between these two factions,  it felt all too quick for Sona to gain the trust of not only Eris, but also of most of the other gearbreakers. That being said, the ending leaves me interested in how this story will be resolved and I would be curious to explore the corrupt politics of both Godolia and the Gearbreakers that seems to be at play.
