What a way to end this series! I really couldn't say how it was going to go, from beginning to end. But, honestly, I find myself really satisfied with this ending. I loved and hated various characters, laughed at stupid decisions they made, cried when those tear jerkers popped up, my experience was such a wonderful one. One thing I did wished for is to see more of Rowan, but otherwise it was great!
SpoilerThe Thunderhead having a whole existential crisis and it finally reaching the solution of what was needed was so, so heartbreaking to read but it gave a whole new perspective to see the Thunderhead through.
Overall, great series, can't recommend it enough!

This finale of such a wonderful series was pretty disappointing. It was okay, but was sooooooooo drawn out and it didn’t need to be. I wanted more from our main character and they were not the main focus of this book. It introduced us to so many new characters. It left me confused and bored most of the time.

I have to say, The Toll by Neal Shusterman is my most disappointing book of the year. And it was SO LONG.

This book didn't feel like it belonged in this series. It was a very odd turn that didn't make sense to me. The plot twist is this entire book, which confuses me. And why was there suddenly a romance that didn't need to be there? And for 600 pages? The first two books were so good and this book didn't belong, in my opinion. I'm disappointed. I don't really have a nice thing to say since it felt like an entirely different series.

One out of five stars.

“I’m frightened.”
“That is not a bad thing. It is the nature of life to fear it’s own end. This is how I know we are truly alive.”

I really enjoyed this book!
There was only 2 things that made me not give this a 5 stars.
1. The pacing- this book took a while to get into things but when the action came, it came.
2. The ending- it was satisfactory but not completely satisfying. I liked bits of the ending but I feel like there are 1 or 2 loose ends (what happened to Munira? )

I really want a spin off series following Astrid for some reason
Or
A spin off series set in space
Or
A prequel book following Goddard
Or
Any spin off novel.
