The second book in the DI Kelly Porter series starts with the discovery of a body, posed outside a church along with a piece of poetry! Frustration and dead ends follow as the killer becomes increasingly brazen and its not long before another body and piece of poetry, is found.
Porter is a great creation and her home life is well covered as well as her mum struggles with health issues as Kelly continues to disagree with her sister Nikki about pretty much everything.  This domestic situation is an interesting side story to the bodies piling up as Porter tries to find a balance. Its a  very fast paced story and will keep the reader guessing along with the police and it'll be interesting to see if a certain character turns up again in a future book. Well worth a read, especially if you've read the first.

I’d like to thank Canelo for sending me an e-arc of this book. I read the first book and I really enjoyed Dark Game.

It was interesting to see how the detective process is done and I enjoyed how they worked as a team and how they distributed tasks between each other. These books kind of remind me of Criminal Minds. I loved how the characters that appeared blending nicely into the story.

I loved reading about Kelly and her family but also how the family was blending into the plot and how some things crossed over between her case and her family.

I really liked that what happened in Dark Game you can still see the effects that happened in this story and I really liked that.

The book is very slow but informative, it’s a slow-burning story. I didn’t guess who was the killer was it came as a total shock and surprise. The story is so gripping and tense, it’s really good! The ending of this book really makes you want to read the next one. (Which of course I will be. This will also teach me to read ARCs on time).

I love Kelly so much, there is just nothing wrong about her and bonus is that I never see the turn

Spoiler the teacher/nurse, each victim is somehow a drain on society and discovered firstly in a church graveyard. Nikki is captured.

We first met DI Kelly Porter in Dark Game by Rachel Lynch. In Deep Fear, Kelly begins the investigation of the murder of a woman. The body was found with what appeared to be a symbolic act. Kelly and her team work feverishly to locate and arrest this killer before another senseless murder is committed. Before they can catch the suspect, however, other bodies are found soon after.

Although the bodies continually rack up, and the fact that the evidence points to the murders being connected, the mystery remains bone-deep. This case becomes rather terrifying as things become far too close to home for Kelly. A race against the clock begins as Kelly never could have imagined.

Deep Fear is definitely a one-sitting read! It was impossible to guess who the killer was. Add to this a thrilling conclusion and this makes this book a keeper. I look forward to reading more from Rachel Lynch.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Caneli for this ARC to review.
