This is the kind of urban novel I like: rough characters with a cohesive storyline and no over the top drama. Savvy is loyal to a fault, and I loved how her and Michi’s bond stood strong. Shabu proved he was THAT guy. Eric and Kiko made my ass itch.

Whew! This book was so good! I'm telling you the storyline and storytelling is utter perfection! This is a new to me author and dare I say off of this 1 book she's definitely in my top 10. I just wanna go on the record and say I loved Shabu from the first mention of him. That's a Haitian king right there! And Savvy and Michi what a life they've had to endure. And ain't nothing worse than when the people that are supposed to protect you don't. I laughed so many times in this book. Was angered. Was happy. Sad. Disgusted. And even teared up because I unfortunately have been where these girls are and my family is just like theirs. This book was beyond phenomenal.
