Same general format and idea as the first in the series, but not nearly as engaging. There was a lot of battling, and not as much of the suspense-building as the first.

Realized i wasnt ready for another scary, gruesome, tense, dark story right after the last one!

Boring, boring, boring. I skimmed the last 100 pages so I could find out how it ended. [b:Robopocalypse|9634967|Robopocalypse (Robopocalypse, #1)|Daniel H. Wilson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327885891s/9634967.jpg|14247828] was an exciting read, although it drizzled off at the end a bit -- this one was a slog all the way through. Very disappointing.

A solid entry, that leaves the journalistic trappings mostly to the side in this iteration. Had a weak conclusion and strong nihilistic overtones that hurt the pacing, but the exploration of the developing world was engaging. New challenges and dilemnas faced returning characters, while being helped by a strong supporting cast.

Ugh. Well that was brain-bruising violent. In the end the threads all came together but through most of the book it didn't make a whole lot of sense. There were just a lot of threads. A different view on post-singularity and not a positive one. Lots of nasty scary automation. And uncomfortable and un-fun book. And none of the characters were all that approachable. And it wasn't clear why Mathilda and her ilk could do what they did. But always interesting if not a particularly fast read.

I love that the characters and situations continue to be unexpected. The evolution of the robots and the different battling forces allow this book to feel completely different from its predecessor while remaining a fantastic continuation of the story and world.
