For now, I'll just remind myself that Bradbury is a genius. This has now become one of my favorite books to teach.

Another iconic dystopian novel that I only got round to reading this year; I thoroughly enjoyed Ray Bradbury’s ‘Fahrenheit 451.’
The story follows the protagonist Guy Montag, a fireman, whose chief job is to burn any books that are found. In a perhaps unsurprising twist of fate, Montag becomes disillusioned with his role and leaves to help preserve literature.
‘Fahrenheit 451’ succeeds as a social commentary on the overriding presence of mass media and its erosion of literature. On the one hand it conveys a fearful reflection of the McCarthyistic time when it was written. Additionally, its hidden messages about the dangers of an illiterate society stand their ground hugely,
All in all, ‘Fahrenheit 451’ is a truly exciting and insightful book that makes me glad to have reignited my love of books in the lockdown.

I am not one to easily fawn over classics or books that I feel have been analyzed to the nines, but I can't help loving this book. Although not always abundantly clear to me why some classics are so loved, this book is easy to love.
