Entertaining, but some of the details didn't quite come together for me. Not a bad book, but not a great one either. I enjoyed the premise.

3 Stars!

Thank you Netgalley for giving me an ARC of this book!

I found this book to be very predictable but sweet. It also had it's funny moments which, in turn, made this book endearing. Adeline was assertive and fierce, I enjoyed reading her character. However, I felt that Lyon was kind of passive and it didn't fully compliment Adeline all the time. In fact, it made her seem kind of rude and snarky which wasn't what I this Ms. Grey was going for.

I did enjoy the pacing of this book but I felt that since it was so predictable it hindered my reading experience just a tad bit. This being my first read by Amelia Grey, I didn't know what to expect but she wrote a cute story and I might revisit her writing and read some of her other works.

If you like a sweet love story with a male who isn't your run of the mill assertive and 'alpha' like most heroes than maybe this can be your next read!

I really liked this sweet book. There was great chemistry between our main characters, when they first meet in an unforgettable interaction. I liked that Lyon didn't let society force him to do something he didn't want to and when he found what he wanted he didn't hesitate but was still respectable of the woman he loved. For Adeline after her marriage, she was not looking for any attachments but her neighbor continuously lights a fire within her that was long dormant. She try hard to resist but she makes the brave move to get all that she wants and needs.
I found all the character likable and will enjoys seeing more in future books

I'm looking forward to the next book in this series! The premise is really interesting and I do love a bad first impression "re-do"! Adeline is a widow who decides to give back to those that need help - in the form of a girls school for the children of the men who were killed in the shipwreck that killed her husband... but she has to deal with her neighbor, Lord Lyon. After a bad first impression, sparks fly!

I received this book as an ARC thanks to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for free in exchange for an honest review.

This was fun...A little repetitive, but still enjoyable.

I was provided with an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was okay for me. I wasn't wowed, but I wasn't bored out of mind either. The romance progressed too quickly for me, and I didn't find the hero's immediate fascination with the heroine believable. Three stars.

Next door neighbour trope in histrom!!

I haven't read any HR for a long while (I think last was Chasing Cassandra?) so I cannot remember if I've read any neighbour next door (like literally, divided by hedge fence next door) tropes in HR but I was very pleased when I found this out in the beginning.

Anyway I love both Adeline and Lyon together!!!

E-ARC is received thanks to the publisher via Netgalley.

Independence over propriety. That is exactly what Adeline, Dower Countess of Wake has in mind once she becomes widowed. She is looking for a new lover, simply put. Marriage is no longer on her agenda. When she meets Lord Lyon, who is actually looking for a wife, she turns the tables on him. They have a strong connection from the very beginning, however, they have different goals. Will the undeniable passion they share for one another change either of their goals?

I found this story by Amelia Grey to be a change of pace. Over and over again in these historical romance stories (okay, so I love reading them!) the heroes are often rakes, and unforgivable at that. In this story Adeline wants what she wants, and that does not include marriage. Completely unconventional and it actually caused me to drop a star for this review.

This writing style is really formal and the interiority is not modern, which I think can really work. The story premise was interesting and enjoyable. Cinnamon roll is nice.

An enjoyable story. Adeline and Lyon were fun as they fought their attraction to one another. I’m interested in the stories of the other widows.
