Another guilty pleasure. Very little redeeming value, unless you like vampires, and vampire hunters.

I used to loooooove these books. Made it all the way through book 20 before it was all too bonkers for me. But a reread of the first reminded me why I got hooked to start.

Good book, a different kind of vampire hunter, who is strong and capable, and very loyal to her friends. There were quite a few things that were repeated a lot throughout the book, though, and that kind of annoys me a little, I can totally remember what happens between the first and the fifth chapter. Sometimes, I even get a little annoyed if things are repeated too much in different books, even if I can understand that better, since it's for readers who haven't read the whole series. I don't see the point of in-book repetitions.

Apart from that, the book was very exciting, Anita is a great heroine, and I will definitely read more!

I've wanted to read the Anita Blake series by @official_Ikhamilton for years and I finally found more then half of the series at a thrift store.
This is book 1 from 32 books. It's soooo good.
A good mix of horror, comedies and intrigue. I love the character of Anita a kick ass Vampire slayer.
Anita has to battle on multiple scale Vampires that want her dead for what she does.
It will be a series that will take me time to read.

I didn't think I'd enjoy this as much the second time around, as I'm really one of those people who can only read something once these days, not like the good old days when I could read every Harry potter over and over for like two years straight. Yep, I actually did that. Now? Can't pick up a Harry potter to save myself, even though I love it. This however, is a different story. Maybe because it's shorter than Harry potter? Or I read it once many many years ago now, I was younger than 16, so atleast 5 years has passed. I remember reading this in one day, I loved the cover so greatly, and I purchased it with my birthday money from Borders in MacArthur square while I visited mum for the school holidays. I actually bought it with another book I loved and want to re read, even though it ended up being like book 5 of a series black jewel something or rather! But I'll get to those!
So the main thing I love is, it's easy to read, she has a kick ass humour. Loves to take the piss even when in danger, but she's not fucking stupid like most women would be in those situations. Me included. She's real. And as for jean-Claude, yum! I actually wish this was a movie or tv show. Even just this first book. Because it's a great story with great characters. It deserves the attention!

I'm intrigued, for sure. I feel like I missed some steps getting into this one, but I did read it on the plane, so maybe that has something to do with it! I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next one in the series...
