This is not working for me so I'm going to DNF. It's moving very very slowly with a lot of extra details that are not purely necessary.

Could have been worse

Listen, I knew what I was getting into and it met expectations. Like an employee that puts in just the bare minimum to not be fired.

3.5 - Interesting premise and I really like what little I have seen of Valentine. I adore
Macavity! Lol I want him and the protective "kitten" scene was sweet. The ending was sad and ends on a huge cliffhanger.

Mera grew up in the supernatural world. However, she was a bit different. She was unable to wield magic and was labeled a Neutral. She was once engaged to Valentine, the Vampire King. Things didn't go as planned and broke it off. About three years later, he reappears and informs her that she is in danger. He is willing to do everything in his power to save her.

What an interesting read! The tension and angst between Mera and Valentine was pretty hot.
I would have thought there would be more a lot more steam. However, I deeply enjoyed the suspense and thrill of the story. Poor Mera was not only being hunted, but cursed. Plus, the end events and cliffhanger... I definitely can't wait to see what happens next.

I received an ARC and voluntarily gave my honest opinion and review

i really paused half way on the book that just came out to read this one bc the other book was lowkey boring and i got an ad on this book and was like shit i got to read it. but i mostly read it for angst and shit be the guy pretended he never dated the girl and i was hoping for a lil redemption arc but no it was just him being like omg ur memories were erased like we planned this whole thing out bc she's like some illegal magic person and blah blah blah. the beginning kinda boring tho bc it just be talking about her working at a crystal and shop and it be giving very much white spiritualist vibe and then it takes like 80 pages until the guy comes like you're so boring for what give me #angsty sad shit but like i kinda got some of that bc the girl got a curse to make him want to attack her and he did it but killed himself before he could kill her and that was sad kinda i didn't really care bc i didn't have an emotional attachment to him and then the end was him coming back but as this bad version of a vampire yk and i'm not gonna read the rest of the series bc shits 7 books long of the same damn couple and i'm tired of them already. giving a 4/10 want my time back pls.
