This was such an emotional and angst-filled read! So heartwarming and a story that shows you all the sides of love. Melody and Brett do not have an easy road, but its a rich road. Its about the choices we make, and how well we feel about the direction those choices take us. It has sugary sweet one minute and made me bawl and judge my own life choices the next. Very thought provoking read, this author always surprises me.

Sort of a 2nd chance romance. H/h grew up together. Her dad makes bourbon. His dad makes barrels. They kiss right before he goes into military and apparently nobody knows how to write a letter. She moves to play housewife with some guy who doesn’t really want a housewife and is an ass. He goes to military but gets out when friend dies and he needs to raise her daughter.

There is a lot of grief and her sister hiding from feelings. They learn they were each other’s first kiss but maybe she shouldn’t run the bourbon bar because she sorts bottles by size not year. You know nothing, Jon Snow!!!

And why did I give it three stars? Mostly because it was written passably well. It was not as bad as books I rate a 2. Really it’s an okay story. I will remember the bourbon part but not really the characters.

Not impressed. Based on the reviews, I expected a much more compelling story and far better writing. Needless to say, I had to force myself to finish this book.

Well this book made me cry. And I read it in one sitting. I loved Melody and Brett. Now I just need a second book with Brody and Journey.
