Nell and her father have been estranged for the last seven years after he ruined her career. But when he turns up dead with the very map that caused their rift, Nell is drawn into a world of mystery, wonder, and heartbreak.

This is a novel that hooked me from the start. Readers get just enough information to keep them invested. But at the same time, you are never quite sure where it will go. As each revelation hits Nell and the readers, more questions pop up and the more intricate the story becomes.

There was also so much depth to each character. And I'm sure if I did a reread, I would see so much foreshadowing.

I can't wait to read more from Peng Shepherd!

I thought a lot of this book was overwrought. It was such an interesting premise but it just drug on. In actual execution, the whole plot was a bit flimsy.
