This book wasn’t for me. It was going for an enemies to lovers vibe which is v hard to pull off in contemporary romance but beyond that the writing was pretty cringy (these characters are like late 20’s and referred to having sex as boinking). The dialogue was stilted and unrealistic, the MMC sounded like a robot several times. There were lots of info dumps and I definitely felt like I was being told a story rather than feeling like I was a part of it.

But I do appreciate the representation for neurodivergence and chronic migraines, however I think if you want a romance that has a deep command of the characters and is emotionally moving, you can skip this one.

0 stars!

Chloe Liese, your plots and characters were always cringe, and you don't have talent in writing, now you're also a hypocritical cowardly person who pick and choose which humanitarian crisis made more sense to you? FUCK YOU!

Stupid-ugly-ass-fuck-of-a-white-privileged-Zionist-supporting author. You want to call out ableism but draw the line at calling Zionist ugly and stupid, while never speaking up about the genocide of Jewish, Muslims, Christians, Atheist, Theist Palestinians? FUCK YOU! White women are just always so fucking disappointing. #FreePalestine

For anybody who didn't know, look up Chloe Liese, Sierra Simone, and Zachary Webber issue on social media. Allegedly, Zachary Webber (an audiobook narrator) called out Zionists, and these two cowardly authors were cancelling him just because he called those ugly stupid ass Zionists what they are: stupid and motherfucking ugly. If that was me, i would've called them disgusting and more too.

CHLOE LIESE IF YOU'RE READING THIS DON'T EVEN FUCKING TURN THIS INTO A MISOGYNY ISSUE. THIS IS A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS ISSUE, DUMBASS. LEBANON WAS FUCKING BOMBED JUST A FEW DAYS AGO, DON'T EVEN MAKE THIS ABOUT YOU. CALLING AUTHORS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY! BOYCOTT HER!

#FreePalestine #FuckZionists.

And to think that this issue literally still happened after 12 months and DECADES of being shown the atrocious ethnic cleansing of Palestinians on social media, and the bombing of Lebanon just this September 2024? HOLD THIS MOTHERFUCKING AUTHOR RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIT THAT COMES OUT OF HER STUPID FUCKING MOUTH.

Fuck Chloe Liese. #Boycott #FreePalestine

This is hovering between a 2.75 and 3 star. The premise is childhood neighbors turned adults who hate each other get over their crap and fall in love. HOWEVER Kate is so insufferable. She’s a feminist icon in the worst way and just perceives that anyone who doesn’t immediately understand how her brain works is trash that isn’t worth her time. Honestly, I can’t stand her. Christopher isn’t much better. He’s a whipped wet sack of flour. He provides menstrual leave to his employees?? I’m sorry, but why are we assuming that women can’t bleed and hold down an office job at the same time? The amount of new wave feminist bullshit in this book was nauseating. Two things I actually really enjoyed about the book (and what is bumping the rating up a little) are the representation of migraines being so accurate and the communication. Regardless of what I think about Kate and Christopher, they learn to communicate so well and not to willfully misunderstand each other. Overall, I’m a little disappointed in this book after giving the first one 5 stars. I loved Jamie and Bea’s book so much and expected to much from Christopher and Kate’s just to be let down.
