This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I have so many theories and so many questions. Some questions from the first book have been answered in this book while this book also brought forth new questions. The things that Dessin and Skylenna have endured are heart wrenching. I cried the last 3/4 of the way through this book. Sometimes it was just tears streaming down my face and others I was sobbing to a point I couldn’t breath. This book is a 5 ⭐️ read for me and I will reread over and over. This series is phenomenal. The world building is amazing and the character growth is chefs kiss. Brandi Szeker did it again. She is truly the queen. This is a dark romance, asylum read, with mental disorders and DID. Please check triggers before reading because there is torture on page as well as gruesome murder on page. Along with the talk of mental disorders. Im obsessed with this series. And I highly recommend if you have no triggers. The things Dessin does for Skylenna is like no other. And the way they are for each other and to each other is otherworldly. This is found family as well and also has a beautiful RottWeilen named DaiSzek. He’s like a huge wolf. But also when it comes to Skylenna he’s like a huge puppy. The slow burn is real though. But when it finally hits it is EVERYTHING.

It felt a little dragged out but throughout the middle and the end I was screaming, crying, throwing up, and going ballistic. Over everything that is happening, I felt like I was thrown around in those inflatable balls and thrown into the ocean, left me there to die and then get saved again by the FBI. Then interrogated and waterboarded and given a house & free rent by the end. (Does that make sense?)
