The book had its stumbles (fat-shaming, a deplorable "joke" about AIDS and rabies, and Jake's wackadoo mother all come to mind), but I enjoyed it regardless. Jake's irreverent narration had me smiling and laughing the whole way through and I thought he and Patrick made the sweetest, sexiest couple I've read about in a long while.

Nice refreshing story with different problems for the MCs than what we usually see.

Jake's snark and Patrick's abilities to navigate the world despite his blindness made the story for me. Of course, the added textual relations the pair has in the beginning made me like it even more.

Jake's backstory was nice to know, but once it caught up to him
Spoiler with his mother's pregnancy and adoption
, it was more drama than I needed. His sisters and mother was very reliant on him, and not necessarily likeable, so I kinda just hoped he would leave them to fend for themselves for once..

3.5 rounded down. I was all for this book and then the ending just killed it for me.

Jake and Patrick were great. I was very pleased that this didn't turn into a cinderfella type of book. Despite the vast difference in wealth, Patrick rarely ever forced his money upon Jake and never in any insane ways and that made me adore Patrick. He was willing to just accept that Jake and his family struggled, but that they'd make it work. They weren't a charity case for Patrick to throw cars and houses and piles of money at, which has happened often enough in other books to make me wary of book blurb's like this one.

Jake's snark and Patrick's complete cluelessness about manners was adorable. These two were a great match, with enough give and take to make them compliment each other well. I also love characters that can make me laugh. And these two did. Often. This book was, for most of it, a light, funny and all around enjoyable book.

Until the ending went and ruined it all.

Spoiler I don't like babies in my books (sorry. I don't). I really don't like random babies thrown into a story and dumped on two guy who just got together. And I really really don't like random babies that kill the awesomeness and kill the happy vibe I had going on while reading it. It was just a bit too random and forced for me. I don't see why Jake and Patrick couldn't just spend their days with Gregor, writing each other dirty notes to put through the reader or labeling their boy parts with the braille labeler. Would that be too much to ask for?

I got this as a freebie and was surprised and delighted to discover within the first few pages that it took place in Perth of all places. It was very predictable, but a nice love story.

Jake Manning is in a bit of a rough spot. He's up to his eyeballs in debt, which he took on to help his family. He doesn't allow people to take advantage of him, and that's made it difficult for him to hold down a steady job. And he's reached a point of desperation. So when he applies for a housekeeping job for what he learns is one of the most difficult clients his potential employer has ever seen, he agrees to take on the challenge. Despite everything else, he is truly a hard worker. But even Jake wasn't prepared for Patrick Stanford. Patrick is rude, bossy, blind... and perhaps one of the most attractive men Jake has ever seen. Not one to be taken advantage of, however, Jake pushes back just enough that he might be able to nudge Patrick toward some proper manners. And although Patrick is technically Jake's employer, they strike a bit of a friendship that Jake wishes could become something more. But is Patrick even gay? And how can Jake find time for a relationship when his mother and sisters are always waiting in the wings for him to help them out?

I don't know that I have much else to say about this except that it is entertaining. The banter between Jake and Patrick made me grin and chuckle most of the time, especially with some of the notes they would leave for each other. And there are some pleasant surprises along the way in this story that keep it interesting. I feel like a few issues from the past were sort of glossed over quickly when they came up--in ways that felt a bit abrupt. But overall, this is one that I enjoyed.

Oh how I liked this book, Jake is such a warm soul he love with his whole heart and I love how he treats his family. He never makes them feel like a burden. Even when he puts his life on hold to clean up after them. He just does what needs to be done.

One of his jobs was a housekeeper and it kinda awesome how he and Patrick meet I loved that Jake was falling for him even before meeting him. But it was more than that it was how he just accepts Patrick’s blindness. I hate when books only focus on one thing and harp on it that didn’t happen with this book. It was a part of Patrick and that is that.

These two were sweet and I just enjoyed listening to their HEA. A much deserved love story.

The narration was perfect for this book, the right accent makes all the difference this book wouldn’t have worked otherwise at least not for me.

I enjoyed this book, the story line was very original. The characters were very likable and love story was sweet. The sex scenes were steamy. There was something missing for me though, I can't pin point it exactly, but something just fell short to make this book great. I liked that the characters are so different from each other and I really like that one of the has a handicap and the other barely notices it. The narration was good and I would definitely listen to more books written by this author and books read by the narrator too.

This. Book. It was so amazing.

It made me happy and had me smiling throughout the entire thing. So cute and sweet and funny.

This was picked for me for a challenge, and I am so glad it was because I probably would never had chosen it myself.

The flirty banter between the two MCs was excellent. The story unfolded nicely. I would highly recommend this book.

I don't know how to feel about this book. On one hand, it had great storytelling, compelling characters and a easy narrative but something about it bugged the hell out of me. It's almost as if I'm indignant on Jake's behalf. He has to be one of the most selfless, caretaking characters I've ever beheld. His past and present almost broke me heart and yet his resilience, seemingly tireless work ethic and love of family forces him onwards. He is great to an almost Mary Sue-ish degree to be honest. He finally gets his Richard Gere so to speak and what is his reward…
Spoiler a f*cking baby. That his useless mother gives him as reward for raising her other three daughters and ruining his life to be frank.
I don't know about you, but I'd ask for my money back.

But I can't fault the author for that really. It boils down to a difference in opinion. I guess I'm not that family oriented enough to see that aspect of the plot as believable or rewarding.
