And so the Untold Tales and Alternate Timelines series ends with more mediocrity.

Unlike the previous four issues, #5 sticks with just one story, "Clara's Story." It starts with a very uncharacteristic presentation of Doc's plan—seems the tracks Marshall Strickland saw Doc building in an earlier issue lead directly out of Doc's blacksmith shop. Seems like he planned on driving his time machine train right out of town for anyone and everyone to see. Le sigh.

Right before the time travel's about to happen, Clara takes over the narration and tells the reader all about her life. It's a nice backstory to a character that never had one.

Then, about halfway through we still get filler material when Clara narrates about how Doc told her about his past. So now Doc is narrating (within Clara's backstory) the entire story of BTTF II. There's a little extra side story where Doc visited the Doc of 1985-A (the one who was committed), but there's some BS plot about living in a paradox within a time bubble that could burst at any moment.

It tried to add stakes unnecessarily. We already knew 1985-A was a new timeline that spurred off of the one we knew. Who cares if Doc-A never made a time machine in 1985-A? That won't matter at all!

The story ends with
Spoilerthe train running out of track! Seems this story wasn't even going to end with the Brown family leaving the 1890s!
What a ridiculous end to the 5-issue series. What was the point?!
