I was wondering about this one at first, but that often happens to me. Wondering if I wanted to invest the time in this book. So glad I did.

What I expected to be a mere love story turned out to be something much more than that. I had read good reviews about Ghosted but was reluctant to pick it up because I'm not much of a fan of romance novels. But, while romance plays a significant part in Walsh's Ghosted, mystery and family ties also make up an intriguing storyline.

The writing is good and the book addictive. I didn't like that the narrative was broken several times to add letters to further the story and the narrator suddenly changed from Sarah to Eddie towards the end. The structure of the book is very meh because of that.

But overall, the story will keep you hooked. Might even make you emotional. So do give a try if family-oriented love stories are your deal.

3.5 stars for this one! This book was by no means perfect, but it was good and kept me entertained. There were definitely some moments where I questioned some things, like some of the decades long anger held by some of the characters and some of Sarah's decisions. The "twist" was the exact opposite of what I was expecting, but I liked that because originally I was thinking that the twist was way too obvious and lame.

I wasn't overly keen on the first half of The Man Who Didn't Call but my curiosity of what happened to Eddie kept me hooked. About halfway through, a twist appeared which I didn't see coming & it took me a wee minute to process what I was reading! Definitely worth a read.

This was nothing like I expected, but I really enjoyed it! I liked the message of forgiveness and moving on with life after something terrible happens.

I’m surprised at how many negative reviews this book has... While I agree that parts of the plot seem far fetched, I loved this story and could not put it down - it’s original, entertaining and heartwarming.

I wanted to like this. It was not that great though. Too disconnected.

There was a line in 'The Man who Didn't Call' which I think summed it up perfectly.

'Do you mind if we get to the point?... I understand why you're telling me this stuff but I- I just need to know.'

I loved the first 100ish pages and the last 100ish pages. But the middle just lost focus, it was repetitious and boring, completely at odds with the engaging and well-paced start and end.

Considering that the relationship between Sarah and Eddie was the whole point of the novel, there was actually very little page time afforded to it. It dealt more with the fall out than the falling in love. I'm not sure that this would have been too much of a problem had the fallout been better paced and more interesting but it just wasn't, not until the last third at least. It was so focused on the mundane elements of Sarah's life and the repetition of her messaging Eddie or checking her phone or going to bed and checking her phone there and then sending another message and repeat. I actually gave up at one point because it was just so slow that it was like wading through jelly.

Actually, I am glad that I forged on because I really enjoyed the final section. There were some really lovely turns and diversions in the plot and I flew through those pages and wanted a bit more, but
Spoiler again, the author seemed to lose interest once Eddie and Sarah were reunited and we weren't given much page time to see how they had developed post-baby.
I would have enjoyed reading more about this time, and the early stages, far more than the mundane, muddly middle.

Overall, I am not sure if I would recommend or not. Maybe with the tip to read the first 100 pages and the last 100 pages.
